In the fall of 2022, Rohith Guttamidhi, Matteo De Boni, and Emely Rachela established The Chekhovians, a theater company born from a shared passion for reintroducing Anton Chekhov’s works in their original spirit—as comedies, and social commentary not merely as solemn dramas. For two years, we’ve brought Chekhov’s characters and wit to life, staging performances in New York and Chiavenna, Italy, and sharing Chekhov's oeuvre with new audiences.

As we look to the future, we’re expanding our vision. Our aim is to create an inclusive community and space not only for Chekhov’s masterpieces but also for new and innovative works from diverse voices.

 

Our new name is Arkadia Theatre Company.

Arkadia will be a creative home where artists can showcase original stories that resonate with the depth and sincerity that drew us to Chekhov in the first place.
